Elecampane (Inula helenium) is a traditional medicinal herb with a long history of use in European and Asian herbalism — particularly for respiratory, digestive, and immune support.

Respiratory Health 

  • Expectorant & antimicrobial — helps loosen and expel mucus from the lungs and bronchi. Traditionally used for bronchitis, coughs, asthma, and chest congestion. Contains inulin and alantolactone, which support lung cleansing and help reduce microbial load.

Digestive Support

  • Acts as a bitter tonic, stimulating digestion, bile flow, and appetite. Inulin (a prebiotic fiber) nourishes beneficial gut bacteria and supports gut health. Sometimes used for gas, bloating, and sluggish digestion.

Antimicrobial & Anti-parasitic Effects

  • The compound alantolactone shows antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic activity in lab studies. Used traditionally for intestinal worms and infections.

Immune & Anti-inflammatory Support
